Warner became the seventh overall Australian to score a triple century in Test cricket history. He became the second Australian after the great Mark Taylor to smash a triple century against Pakistan, and the fourth Australian as an opener to do so. He reached the landmark in landmark with 37 fours at a strike rate of 77.12.
Warner stands as the 16th opening batsman in Test cricket to score a century. He announced his comeback in style, following his forgettable Ashes series. Warner’s triple ton means he became the first-ever batsman to score 300 runs at Adelaide Oval. The previous highest record held by Don Bradman against South Africa was 299 not out, which came way back in the year 1932.
Earlier, Marnus Labuschagne also scored 162 runs in 238 balls with 22 fours to his name. At the time of writing, Australia are on 574-3 with Warner (325*) and Wade (33*) occupying the crease.
