This much was stated during a recent interview with the outlet VentureBeat, in which Garvin was asked what Sony and Bend Studio is allowing him to share in relation to shipping and release dates for Days Gone, as the creative director offered up hope that such a reveal is potentially imminent. Regarding the matter, Garvin stated, “I think they’ve announced that it is shipping in 2019. We’ll have an announced date before long.”

Although Garvin didn’t offer up much else in the way of hints for Days Gone’s tentative release date, it’s quite possible that we could learn when it’s coming out during Sony’s PlayStation E3 2018 press conference. Of course, should such a reveal not make its way into the company’s showcase during this year’s big event in Los Angeles, then there’s a chance that a launch date could be confirmed toward the latter part of 2018 during gamescom, Paris Games Week, or even PlayStation Experience.

As far as remaining work on Days Gone is concerned, Garvin confirmed toward the end of the interview, that Days Gone is currently “100 percent playable” and that he’s even “beaten it”. Nevertheless, Bend Studio still needs some time to make the project as perfect as possible, with “tuning and polishing” taking place for “every part of the game” including mission design, animation, audio, and more.

All things considered, one can only hope that Days Gone not only has its release date announced soon, but also manages to stand head and shoulders above the recent spate of post-apocalyptic titles featuring undead enemies. Garvin has previously addressed how how Bend Studio will overcome the current zombie genre overload with the game, which definitely indicates that Days Gone has plenty of promise.

Days Gone is currently scheduled to release at some point in early 2019 for PlayStation 4.
