Luckily, most of the time, they were able to fix their mistakes, but if they had considered their actions more carefully before, they would have saved themselves a lot of trouble. On the other hand, some DCEU characters’ dumb decisions made for hilarious or otherwise remarkable moments that viewers have enjoyed watching.

5 Amanda Waller: Putting Together The Suicide Squad

Amanda Waller fulfills the function that Nick Fury had in the MCU to a certain degree. Both Waller and Fury put together their own teams to protect the planet from extraterrestrial as well as other threats. The difference is that Fury included the good guys in the Avengers, while Waller went for the Suicide Squad full of bad guys. Some of the squad’s members aren’t entirely capable of controlling their actions or are unpredictable.

Unsurprisingly, the result blew up in Waller’s face, and in the first Suicide Squad movie in 2016, her newly established team ended up fighting one of their own, June Moone aka the powerful Enchantress. And even though they won in the end, Enchantress still did a lot of damage. Considering her previous experience, Waller should have known better than to trust a being that wants nothing more than to take control of her host and wreak havoc. Maybe she should have worked with Superman and Batman instead, but that would mean Waller couldn’t control their actions either. This just comes across as a no-win scenario.

4 Batman: Threatening An Extremely Powerful Alien Being

Batman is efficient when it comes to fighting human villains, but Superman might just be too big a challenge for him. Yet Batman seems to have very little regard for his own life since he thought it would be a good idea to threaten Superman openly while the other superhero was still in earshot.

After their encounter when Superman challenged Batman to stop what he was doing, Batman asked him whether he bled, and then added ominously: “You will.” He was lucky that Superman doesn’t like to kill people, otherwise he could have easily snapped Batman in half right there and then.

3 Joker: Everything

Some versions of the Joker in movies have garnered a lot of critical acclaim, such as Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance in The Dark Knight (2008). But Jared Leto’s run as the Clown Prince of Crime isn’t as celebrated. The main reason is that the Joker’s behavior and actions make no sense. In the comics, there’s often a certain method to Joker’s actions, something that’s missing from the DCEU. One example is when Joker and his then-girlfriend Harley Quinn go for a merry crime spree even though they know that Batman is looking for them, determined to bring them to justice.

The wiser course of action would be to lie low for the time being or at least lure Batman somewhere where he’ll be at a disadvantage. Instead, he manages to capture Harley quite easily, and as a result, she ends up in the Suicide Squad. There’s also the matter of this Joker looking very different from the comics, without any explanation as to why.

2 Wonder Woman: Pining For One Man For Almost A Century

The romantic relationship between Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor is touching, there’s no doubt about that. And Gal Gadot and Chris Pine manage to sell it in a way that makes the viewers care about their characters and their romance in Wonder Woman (2017). However, a century after Steve’s death, Wonder Woman is shown still pining after him, even though she could have since moved on .

What makes this decision to fixate on a one, a long-dead person even stranger is that in Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), it looks like Wonder Woman comes to peace with the fact that Steve is now gone, and she might be finally able to start over, to allow herself to open up to other people. Instead, in the 2010s, she’s still all alone, negating all the progress she made as a person three decades earlier.

1 Shazam: Telling The Entire World What He Can Do

To be fair to Shazam, he’s a child and is incredibly excited about the newfound powers that he wants to test them and share them with the world. So he lets himself be recorded as he tests his powers. Unfortunately, that turns against him as his new enemy, Dr. Sivana, is aware of what Shazam can do by the time they stand against each other. This means that Shazam has to recruit help, or he might actually lose.

A similar scenario happens in the MCU when Tony Stark challenges the Mandarin to come to his house and tells his address to the terrorist in Iron Man 3 (2013), which later blows up in his face As both Shazam and Iron Man prove, sometimes it’s best to stay a bit more down to Earth, especially if the hero doesn’t want to get an unpleasant surprise later on.
