Speaking to ComicBook, Cote said that Jason can come to Dead by Daylight “whenever he’s ready” and “whenever he’s done with whatever he’s got going on in his life right now.” This could be in reference to the Friday the 13th licensing issues that caused Friday the 13th: The Game to production on its new content shut down. “He’s going to be welcomed with open arms.”

For the uninitiated, Jason Voorhees is already featured in an asymmetric multiplayer horror game of his own called Friday the 13th: The Game, that’s not all that different from Dead by Daylight. Unfortunately, licensing issues forced the developers to halt production on future content for the game, allowing them to only perform server maintenance and release bug fixes.
If Jason Voorhees was ever added to Dead by Daylight, he would be joining an increasingly impressive roster of iconic horror villains. Dead by Daylight already includes Michael Myers of Halloween fame, Ghost Face from Scream, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street, and more. There are plenty of other horror villains that fans would love to see in Dead by Daylight, and Jason Voorhees is likely near the top of that list.
Of course, new Dead by Daylight content usually comes with more than just a new killer. It’s likely that if Jason Voorhees did come to Dead by Daylight that he would be accompanied by a new survivor and a new map for players to try as well. The new map would most likely be based on Camp Crystal Lake, the setting of many of the Friday the 13th movies, and Tommy Jarvis seems like the obvious choice for a Friday the 13th survivor.
It’s unclear Friday the 13th content will ever come to Dead by Daylight, but fans of the game can check out the new Silent Hill content in the meantime.
Dead by Daylight is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
