There are plenty of ways to get gold in Deep Rock Galactic, and while mining pockets of it from walls is the most common, other sources provide more of the material. Large gold deposits can occasionally be found in walls, while Crassus Detonators will leave behind a massive amount of gold whenever they explode. Golden Loot Bugs are perhaps one of the most satisfying, though, as they explode into a pile of gold for gamers to collect.

With players able to get the Loot Bugs’ gold quickly without needing to mine slowly or have a Driller dig into a wall, even those who have plenty of credits and see gold as irrelevant will blow up Golden Loot Bugs. A clip from Reddit user HumbleResponse2417 shows this clearly, with the gamer eyeing up a Golden Loot Bug. With the Loot Bug in question moving slowly across the ground, there is no need for the Redditor to waste ammo, so they go in for some melee hits with their pickaxe. However, this proves to be a mistake.

After landing a charged hit with their Deep Rock Galactic pickaxe, the Redditor starts to finish off the Golden Loot Bug with their weapon only to be grabbed and pulled to the ceiling by a Cave Leech. Just about everyone that has played Deep Rock Galactic will be familiar with these monsters, as they are constantly pulling up miners unexpectedly. Fortunately, the Redditor’s team was quick to react, shooting at the Cave Leech so that it drops HumbleResponse2417.

While Deep Rock Galactic players are used to being caught by Cave Leeches, as they are difficult to spot since they can hide so high up, what makes this clip so funny is that it looks like the Redditor was tricked. Based on how the video played out, it looks as if the Golden Loot Bug was working with the Cave Leech to lure the player into a trap. While this was obviously not the case, the coincidence makes for a funny video that seems to show the wildlife of Hoxxes plotting to catch the miner.

While the Redditor was playing with others in Deep Rock Galactic, ensuring they were freed quick, the moment is likely one that will stick with them. Overall, the clip serves as a good reminder to always check the ceilings when inside a cave.

Deep Rock Galactic is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
