Players have four classes to choose from – Engineer, Gunner, Driller, Scout – each with their own unique loadout. Every class in Deep Rock Galactic has three primary and two secondary weapons, including havoc-wreaking flamethrowers, gatling guns, and grenade launchers, as well as a selection of useful gadgets to facilitate mining in an alien environment. Deep Rock Galactic also features an accessory shop where players can customize their dwarf and purchase cosmetics like weapon skins, victory moves, and headgear.

In the past, Ghost Ship Games has offered limited-time cosmetics for various holidays. For Lunar New Year in January, players could obtain a wide brim hat in Deep Rock Galactic similar to Raiden’s in Mortal Kombat. There was a Santa cap and antler hat in December, as well as Horned Horror headgear for Halloween. Now the Great Egg Hunt has brought Easter-themed decorations to the Space Rig bar and two new “Eggstravagant” hats that can be earned by completing the event’s limited-time assignment. The first is a pair of white bunny ears and a nose, complete with buck teeth, and the second is a broken eggshell decorated in pink, green, and blue. The Easter festivities have already begun and will continue through April 19.

The Great Egg Hunt assignment consists of five missions during which players must collect a certain number of eggs. In addition to the “Eggsquisite” hats, completion of the assignment will reward 15,000 credits, crafting minerals, brewing ingredients, an overclock infused matrix core, and one cosmetic infused matrix core. Egg Hunts are not new in Ghost Ship’s indie game, as they are one of the first unlockable mission types in Deep Rock Galactic, but usually the fetched items are glowing green alien eggs. During the limited-time event, players will collect festively decorated Easter eggs.

Shortly after the Great Egg Hunt event ends, season two of Deep Rock Galactic will begin, launching on April 28 for Steam and a week later for consoles. The game’s second season will introduce new cosmetic items, both purchasable via the Robot Rebellion DLC and unlockable. There will also be a number of new secondary weapons coming to Deep Rock Galactic in season two, like the Engineer’s Shard Diffractor that is basically a giant laser beam. The Great Egg Hunt and its fun cosmetic rewards should keep players busy as they wait for the start of Deep Rock Galactic’s season two.

Deep Rock Galactic is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
